A friend told me this week that they were having such a hard time doing their “quiet time”. They confessed it had been quite a while since they were able to just sit and focus and really pray.
My first thought was to ask questions- What is getting in your way? Who is getting in your way?
After identifying the cause as just being busy, then we could see that she was getting in her own way.
When a relationship is important we strive to spend time with that other person and it is vital to the relationship for it to flourish. Just like a plant it cannot grow if you don’t water it, (which is why I do not have any plants!) Relationships take time, and a lot of it. If you take a time inventory of how your time is spent, it is very telling, very insightful indeed! How much time do you spend on social media, talking on the phone, e-mailing or talking to friends? Often times we equate time with our precious Creator into time being spent with church friends or family. In reality there is just NO substitute. If busyness is the culprit, then take a priority check and always put Him first, and let all of that other stuff fall into place-after. If someone else is getting in your way, then communicate, and check motives if that continues to be an issue. No one should take the place of our heavenly Father, and no one really can after all.
I get cranky if I cannot have a talk with my Daddy, a continual feast is before me as I am always wanting to be in connection with Him. I just cannot get through my next breath or my next heartbeat without Him, period!
Regular time with Daddy- for me it is just crucial! Each beat of my heart to Him says I love you, every breath says thank You! I am completely and totally a Daddy’s girl!
Life is just way too hard, we all need Jesus, we must seek Him constantly and we will always find Him if we seek Him, with our entire being, our whole heart.
Psalm 95 Jeremiah 29:11-13
