HOW FIGHT SATAN'S LIES

Fighting the lies of the enemy is difficult but it is something we all need to do! Lies are his greatest weapon! It’s what has caused the world to be where it is today. He plants lies in people’s minds, and they either listen and go down a dark path, or choose to fight against it with the power of The Holy Spirit. But how do you beat a lie? With Truth!!

My dad once said the truth is NEVER threatened by lies, but lies are ALWAYS threatened by truth!! 

Why do you think the Pharisees had a problem with Jesus? Because he kept speaking the truth about him being the Messiah,  and it was a threat to their way of life! 

John 11: 47-48

47 Then the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered a council and said, “What shall we do? For this Man works many signs. 48 If we let Him alone like this, everyone will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and nation.”

So it’s clear that the way to beat lies is with truth. But the question is how do you remind yourself of the truth when the lies inevitably come?

In the fifth Harry Potter Film Order of the Phoenix. Professor Snape takes Harry and trains him to discipline his mind, to help protect himself from Voldemort. 

Snape: It appears there’s a connection… between the Dark Lord’s mind and your own. Whether he is, as yet, aware of this connection is, for the moment, unclear. Pray he remains ignorant.

Harry: You mean, if he knows about it, then… he’ll be able to read my mind?

Snape: Read it, control it… unhinge it. In the past, it was often the Dark Lord’s pleasure… to invade the minds of his victims… creating visions designed to torture them into madness. Only after extracting the last exquisite ounce of agony… only when he had them literally begging for death, would he finally… kill them. Used properly, the power of Occlumency… will help shield you from access or influence. In these lessons, I will attempt to penetrate your mind. You will attempt to resist. Prepare yourself.

(Snape goes into Harry’s mind)

Snape: Feeling sentimental?

Harry: That’s private!

Snape: Not to me, and not to the Dark Lord if you don’t improve. Every memory he has access to is a weapon he can use against you, you wouldn’t last two seconds if he invades your mind. You’re just like your father, lazy, arrogant.

Harry: Don’t say a word against my father!

Snape: Weak!

Harry: I’m not weak!

Snape: Then prove it! Control your emotions, discipline your mind!

(Snape goes into Harry’s mind again)

Harry: Stop it!

Snape: Is this what you call control?

Harry: We’ve been at it for hours if I could just rest.

Snape: The Dark Lord isn’t resting!

Now you may be thinking that Snape is being a bit harsh here, but everything he is saying is exactly right! Any memory that Satan has access to is a weapon he can and will use against you! Which is why we need to go into our past and look at it from God’s perspective, heal from our wounds, and repent of our sins, and most importantly have a deep understanding of what God has to say about your past. Because it will be the undeniable truth! Once you have a deep understanding of the truth, and remember all the good things in your life! Satan won’t have anything he can use against you. 

In fact that is what happened to Harry at the end of the film. Voldemort penetrated his mind and started filling his head with lies, but Harry was able to fight against it because he remembered the good things in his life and had an understanding of what the truth was and called Voldemort out on his lie about him being weak, and how he’s just like him, in one of my favorite lines of the film. 

Harry: You’re the weak one! And you’ll never know love, or friendship! And I feel sorry for you.

1 John 3: 7-8  Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous.  He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.

Be ready when Satan attacks you with lies! Remember who you are, and challenge every lie thrown at you!
