I just spent this past weekend at a 2.5 day life changing workshop helping people of faith affirm their calling purpose and power. As I am still processing many of the valuable lessons learned, I am looking inwardly at my own life and the struggles I have had with knowing God's will in the absence of a burning bush telling me what to do.

You see I do not want to be like 40-year-old Moses, who saw the injustice of his people and stood up to the oppression at the hands of the Egyptian slave masters. A good thing, right? How could God not want him to do that? Moses ended up killing a slave master who was beating an Israelite and had to flee for his life and hide in the land of Midian for the next 40 years until God spoke to him and told him the He was sending him back to Egypt to confront Pharoah and demand that he let the Israelites go.

Moses had the right idea but not the right timing or even perhaps the method that God had in mind. I do not want to presume to know that God is in even very good things because it might not be what he has in mind and make no mistake if God is not in it, it will not succeed but if He is in it, it can not fail.

So, what is a believer who is facing a life altering choice in the absence of a burning bush to do? A verse I believe the Holy spirit put on my heart after the conference was Hebrews 12:1-3

Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

The Hebrew writer is referring to the great cloud of witnesses discussed in Hebrews 11 the great chapter of faith and the great heroes of the faith. He tells us to lay aside all the encumbrances and sin and to run the race set before us. I believe there is a race set before me and my family.

We are seeking to forever change the film making industry and the ways films and TV shows are made, producing content that gives glory to God and is true, authentic, and compelling to audiences of all shapes sizes and religious beliefs. Narratives that hold true to all people not just Christians but all people.

Reflecting on the race set before me I am still asking
